‘Occupation’ is a different project that involves a slide projection. These images record a considerable number of improvised structures that for decades were built clandestinely in a space today classified as a natural park whose access is only possible by boat. During my stay, I then realized that the beginning of these constructions occurred after the 25th of April in which the concept of freedom passed through “popular power”. Occupy meant “destroying the concept of capitalist property and giving strength to the proletariat”. Let's say that the “invisibility” of this territory, its distance from urban areas and the political and social aspect were determining factors in the will to produce this project. In a plastic context, ‘Ocupação’ is like an appropriation of these improvised houses. On the other hand, the choice of materials makes this exhibition have an informal character.
