For twenty-one years, a book of moving images and sound has been written with a video camera by Manuela Dos Campos, who adopts this electronic medium as a means of appropriation and artistic creation. The series 2 1/2 na curva do vento (2 1/2 in the curve of the wind) published here is a selection of paths and experiences, almost daily, that reveal an autonomous and systematic record, more frequent during the nighttime, merging various times and spaces since 1997. Her images intersect with the electronic music scene in Porto, accompanying and capturing its early manifestations in clubs, bars, associations, and institutions. In this work, the images are of a social, artistic, and poetic nature, captured at openings, exhibitions, and clubbing events in spaces such as Aniki Bóbó, Passos Manuel, Mala Voadora, Café au Lait, among others, which have been and continue to be cult locations in the vibrational trajectory and cultural construction of the city. This pamphlet, composed of non-linear narratives in analog and digital video frames, presents a human, sonic, self-reflective landscape where music emerges as a form of intervention, in low-tech images that have persisted since the beginning of the collapse of the 1990s to the announced end of the imminent joyeuse tragédie (joyful tragedy)."
