A photographer Elena Lacruz brings us the apocalyptic imagery of post-industrial societies, revealing layers of failure and the inability to sustain modern proposals. In this case, in Tenerife, economic diversity was lacking in an ultra-peripheral region surrendered to the monoculture of global tourism and banana plantations. Sustainability was missing in the exploitation of natural resources, leading to changes in water, irrigation, settlements, and ports, leaving yacht clubs on dry land and water sources dried up. What remains are the defensive batteries of a world war with geo-strategic implications for the area, with bunkers along the coast.
